Shift: 8am to 8pm

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Certified Medication Assistant to join our team and provide high-quality care to our patients. The Certified Medication Assistant will assist with activities of daily living, medication management, and provide ongoing support and monitoring to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications:
? Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with licensure boards andproficient in performing job duties and skills of a Certified Nursing Assistant.
? Must have completed a state approved training program in medication administration andhave current QMA/CMA certification by the State Department of Health (DOH).
? Must be able to stand and/or walk throughout the scheduled shift.? Must have knowledge of computer systems, systems applications, and other officeequipment.
? Must be able to meet all local health regulations, and pass pre/post-employment physicalexam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal backgroundinvestigation, and reference inquiry.
? Must have the ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships through the use oftactful, direct and sensitive interaction. Must be able to communicate verbally in apositive and professional manner.
? Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, co-workers, and towork cooperatively with others.
? Must comply with attendance policy and established nursing staff schedules, be flexible,and make necessary accommodations for the needs of residents and families.
? Must attend in-service/education programs as required to learn new procedures anddevelop skills to meet regulatory compliance.
? Must agree not to disclose resident protected health information and report suspected orknown violations of such to the Administrator
Job Functions:
1) Practice standard precautions with all resident care.
2) Administer and document oral medications, eye medications, topical medications, suppository medications, and ear drops per the physician orders. QMA/CMA's cannot administer or perform accu-checks, injections, G-tube/PEG tube medications or flushes, intravenous medications/fluids, and/or PRN medications.
3) Perform and document treatments on minor skin conditions (i.e., dermatitis, scabies, Pediculosis, fungal-infection, psoriasis, eczema, first-degree burn, stage one decubitus ulcers) per physician orders.
4) Maintain locked medication and treatment cart(s) and medication keys according to facility policy.
5) If a resident or family member expressed any concerns, direct the information to the appropriate person for prompt resolution of the issue. If able to address the concern, do so promptly and follow-up with the resident and/or family to ensure satisfaction.
6) Make sure all empty rooms are clean and prepped for new admissions.
7) Check resident names outside of the doors for accuracy and correct as needed.
8) Answer all resident call lights, anticipate resident needs, and conduct routine resident/rounds.
9) Assist residents with standard ADL's (Activities of Daily Living) to include: bathing, toileting/bed pan, transfers, bed mobility, turning and repositioning, peri-care, grooming, dressing, changing bed linens, applying/utilizing specialized equipment, etc. per the individualized plan of care.
10) Ensure residents remain clean, have clean dentures in place, hearing aids in or stored appropriately, clean eyeglasses on, prosthetic limbs/devices in place, dressed appropriately, clothes are in good repair, and dressed appropriate to temperature/season.
11) Ensure use of positioning devices, restraints, splints, braces, immobilizers, cushions, etc. are utilized per the individualized plan of care.
12) Check catheters frequently and provide catheter care as assigned by nurse.
13) Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and record in the clinical record per facility policy.
14) Monitor and record resident intake and output per policy.
15) Notify the nurse of any abnormal vital sign readings or changes in intake or output promptly.
16) Observes resident skin surfaces and notifies the charge nurse of any changes promptly.
17) Perform post-mortem care.
18) Abide by all emergency protocols for crash carts, resident codes, fire safety, missing residents, tornado preparation, violent residents, Wander guard alarms, door alarms, and other facility policies as assigned.
19) Documentation-Complete documentation in the individual clinical record per policy. Complete any other documentation as assigned.
20) Report and document resident and/or visitor incidents, accidents, complaints or allegations according to the facility's policy and procedure using the designated occurrence reporting system
