General Function

The Assistant Professor is a member of the ranked faculty with an intermediate academic rank who has demonstrated achievement in the areas of teaching, research, and professional service appropriate to the discipline. The Assistant Professor's teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. The Assistant Professor engages in scholarly activities beyond those associated with teaching and is expected to demonstrate professional productivity in research, based upon the availability of resources and consistent with the mission of the University.
Description of Primary Duties

We seek a candidate who can demonstrate a commitment to inclusive teaching practices and expertise in clinical nursing. Tenure track faculty are required to teach, pursue a program of research, and provide service consistent with the School of Nursing, the McQueary College of Health and Human Services, and the University goals. Teaching and advising responsibilities will include both undergraduate and potentially graduate assignments, and will be based on education, experience, and area of expertise. Supervision of graduate student research projects, clinical experiences, and clinical simulation activities may be required.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about the use of student focused pedagogy in the classroom to engage students in the learning process and will join a unit that is dedicated to providing students with access to high impact practices aimed at increasing student retention, persistence, and success.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Assistant Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Additional Qualifications

Terminal degree in Nursing (PhD, DNP or EdD) from an accredited program. Individuals with degree in process that is nearly complete will be considered;
Masters degree in nursing from a CCNE or NLNAC/ACEN accredited program;
Current nursing license, without restriction, to practice nursing, or eligibility for RN licensure in Missouri;
Strong clinical background and skills;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Prior teaching experience;
Experience with online education, or interest in online education, with strong technology skills;
Ability to identify and implement a successful program of scholarship.

The School of Nursing is searching for four (4) tenure track and six (6) clinical faculty for a planned expansion to teach in the BSN and MSN programs. The projected start date for the positions are during the months of July and August 2025. First date of consideration is April 3, 2024, the appointment will be for either nine (9) or twelve (12) months.
