Job Description: Recreation Coordinator


The Recreation Coordinator functions in a professional manner with clients, co-workers, and the community.  Recreation is an integral part of the approach to socialization and clinical treatment of clients.  Interventions should consider the problems and deal with the deficiencies of particular individuals or sub-groups.   

By providing leadership and guidance in recreational sessions, fundamental skills will be learned that promote active, therapeutic and enjoyable programs.

This position reports to the Associate Director.


  1. Responsible for scheduling and managing recreation sessions as determined by the Executive Director as well as creating weekly activity logs, recreational and academic assessments and PQI Tracking.
  2. Ensure the Recreation Center is clean and well-maintained at all times.
  3. Create and maintain an annual budget.
  4. Create and follow an annual recreational plan.
  5. Able to become Handle with Care certified. An emphasis on verbal-de-escalation is mandatory, but the ability to perform the physical restraints as the last option is needed to keep clients safe from themselves or others.
  6. Other duties as assigned.


  1. Minimum age 21 years.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, or other closely related field.
  3. No criminal record of history or abuse
  4. Organization skills including meeting deadlines
  5. Adept in technology
  6. Able to write and speak professionally
  7. On time and dependable
  8. Able to work independently with little supervision.
