Position Title: Metasys BAS Technician II

Location: 

  • On Site - Baltimore, VA Medical Center - 10 N Greene St., Baltimore, MD 21201
  • On Site - Loch Raven, VA Medical Center - 3901 The Alameda, Baltimore, MD 21218

Position Start: To Be Determined, Pending Contract Award

Full Time: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (with on-call work to include overtime pay)

Position Summary: MILVETS Systems Technology, Inc. is currently seeking a full time Metasys BAS Technician II. The BAS HVAC System Technician will report to the BAS HVAC Controls Manager and will assist with performing system maintenance and repair as needed, preventive maintenance, and seasonal maintenance to ensure the BAS HVAC system is performing according to OEM specifications and customer requirements. This includes commissioning, startup, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and / or service. Advanced activities may involve programming and re-configuration of systems. More hands-on activity may involve minor wiring including, final terminations at sensors and panels and/or installation of sensors.

Responsibilities:

  • At the direction of the BAS HVAC Controls Manager, -Complete service repairs, replacement, upgrade, adjustment, and calibration on the JCI Metasys system and components following issued tasking, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation instructions.
  • Capable of determining parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
  • Respond to customer service calls (on-site, on-line or via telephone support)– normal working hours or after hours, if on-call; checks indicated points of problems, analyzes full requirements of system involved and check/tests any system components involved.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics, and associated components according to service maintenance agreement.
  • Test and verify system readings ensuring optimal system operation – i.e. trend logs, alarms, loop tuning, etc.
  • Identify additional opportunities including time and material work, system upgrades, and service contract expansion to meet/exceed customer’s expectations of service provided.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings including wiring, architecture, and sequences. Capable of suggesting sequence changes to meet field conditions.
  • Manage assigned workload to meet professional and efficient execution of time.
  • Install certain control components not installed by other contractors. (May include actuators, relays, and sensors).
  • Verify that all control-point wiring has been correctly installed and terminated, sensors have been calibrated, and field devices operate correctly.
  • Diagnose issues or possible causes and determine corrective action and repairs system and/or system components.
  • Field modify DDC local control panels as required for expansion and engineering changes.
  • Analyze and modify control software as necessary to ensure proper HVAC comfort and energy management control.
  • Support for production of project specific As-Built drawings based upon initial project construction drawings and field modification mark-ups.
  • Assist in commissioning activities for system and complete commissioning documentation.
  • Adhere to all OSHA safety standards.
  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.

Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of HVAC control theory and control concepts to include strong knowledge and understanding of the tools and techniques used to maintain, diagnose problems, and repair HVAC/R and associated electrical systems
  • Advanced knowledge of DDC service & troubleshooting
  • A solid working knowledge of Johnson Controls Metasys
  • Well-developed trouble shooting skills
  • TCP/IP networking skills/knowledge
  • Well-developed skills in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing JCI Metasys
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to work safely with hand and power tools, on ladders, and in confined spaces
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office to include MS Outlook, MS Teams, MS Word, and MS Excel
  • Demonstrate an attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must pass a drug test, complete federal & state background check and clean driving record

Technical/ Certification Requirements:

  • High school diploma, plus either 2-year technical degree or military service
  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification
  • BAS HVAC Technician Certification
  • JCI METASYS Technician Certification

Additional (preferred): Military with Honorable Discharge highly preferred

Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience with BAS HVAC Systems

Minimum of 1 year experience with JCI METASYS
