Manufacturing Engineer

Admin, Stevensville, Maryland

Miltec UV is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Stevensville, Maryland. 

Summary:

Create, develop, implement and document processes required to assemble, test, and manufacture the products of the company. Improve the quality control standards of every product which has completed the manufacturing process; find ways to improve production; monitor and analyze the process of production, and achieve increased performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes.
  • Update and improve documentation of existing manufacturing processes.
  • Provide engineering support in production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancement of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
  • Confer with vendors to determine appropriate product specifications accounting for tolerance stacking.
  • Evaluate incoming and manufactured products according to quality standards and specifications.
  • Estimate staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions.
  • Design and develop manufacturing processes, product changes, new products, and related fixtures and tooling consistent with zero defects.
  • Assure product and process quality by testing finished products, establishing standards and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on returned products and institute corrective and preventative action (CAPA) when needed.
  • Support company policies and procedures, deliver departmental goals and objectives, and maintain good manufacturing practices.
  • Work closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
  • Represent the Manufacturing department in product design review and change control to ensure product manufacturability is incorporated into product design.
  • Conduct product and manufacturing risk assessments using severity, occurrence rate, and detection scores to quantify risk.
  • Assist in the commercialization of new products by managing design control tasks, drawing reviews, and design stage gate activities.
  • Complete Investigations, Corrections, and Supplier Corrective Action (SCARs)

 Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
  • Individual must be responsive, thoughtful, self-directed, positive, and ready for a challenge
  • Experience in manufacturing environment desired
  • Experience with Quality Systems and Good Manufacturing Practices desired
  • Experience with SolidWorks desired
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methods, such as lean manufacturing, desired

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or greater preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Excellent manual dexterity – hand and fingers
  • Good eyesight and color differentiation – with or without vision correction
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to access heights (up to 15 feet), climbing ladders or using lifting equipment
