General Description
Under the direction of the Dean of Physical Education/Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Director will be responsible for creating athletic marketing and promotions materials and event management. The Assistant Athletic Director will attend and actively contribute to the Athletic Department staff meetings and provide feedback, make recommendations on new policies, procedures, programs, and services for continual improvement, and perform other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of social media, graphic design software, video production, athletic event management, in-game management, and be able to efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
This is a Full-Time, 12-month, management position. The Assistant Athletic Director will be expected to work nights and weekends - especially during athletic seasons. Interviews will be held on September 7, 2023.
Starting salary is based upon education and experience.

Job Duties
Job duties of the Assistant Athletic Director include:
  • Develop, direct, and supervise the activities of athletic marketing, promotions, branding, and related projects in-line with the overall branding of the district.
  • Carry out initiatives to maximize attendance for home events.
  • Manage and improve the athletic department's website.
  • Manage, develop, and improve the athletic department's social media accounts and support all other athletic programs' social media accounts.
  • Develop and implement an effective marketing and promotions program.
  • Integrate the role of intercollegiate athletics with the District's mission by maintaining academically and ethically sound programs.
  • Coordinate highlight video production for COS student-athletes for the purpose of recruitment.
  • Hire, supervise, and coordinate game management staff for COS Athletic Events.
  • Be the site supervisor at COS athletic contests.
  • Coordinate all home athletic events, including the preparation of facilities, equipment, officials, and game personnel (announcers, timers, public address, ticket sellers, security, concessions, etc.)
  • Participate in the selection, supervision and evaluation of athletic coaches and support staff.
  • Oversee the hiring, training and supervision of all event and facility staff, interns and student workers; direct all facility scheduling for events and practices as well as other duties as assigned.
  • Attend regular meetings and training to promote strict adherence to conference and state athletic rules, regulations and codes.
  • Attend events at off-campus sites and events scheduled for days, evenings or weekends.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):
Any combination equivalent to:
  • Master Degree AND
  • Experience working within an athletic program AND
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience or other accomplishments in the field may be determined as meeting the minimum qualifications for this position.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience running social media accounts.
  • Experience with video production.
  • Experience creating graphics and promotional materials for events.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
  • Valid California License
  • An incumbent must be insurable at the standard rate by the employer's insurance carrier at all times while employed in this classification by the College of Sequoias.
Working Conditions:
Environment
  • Athletic environment; gymnasium, locker rooms, and ball fields
  • Subject to seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions.
  • Travel from site to site, i.e. athletic events.

  • The rules of the governing bodies of community college sports. (NCAA, CCCAA).
  • General principles of organization, management and employee supervision, and training.

  • Digital social media management systems.
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • District organization, operations, policies and objectives.

  • Public relations techniques.
Ability to:
  • Utilize social media platforms and department websites.
  • Create promotional videos.
  • Plan, organize, and direct an intercollegiate athletics programs.
  • Analyze, evaluate and recommend innovative changes to existing programs.
  • Reconcile divergent views.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all segments of the college community and the public.
  • Work with students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities, a wide range of skills, motivations and educational goals.
  • Direct and supervise the work of others.
  • Maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
