Summary

The Institutional Research & Educational Assessment Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day communication with administrative assistants and program directors to coordinate scheduling of course evaluations and collection of assessment and accreditation data. This position would also involve familiarity with basic programming and statistical code in SPSS; creation of surveys in REDCap and performing other essential to support the department in meeting the mission of OIREA. This position reports to the Director of Institutional Research and Educational Assessment. 

Essential Duties

  • Collaborate with designated staff in the day-to-day creation of online courses and instructor evaluations.
  • Compile and disseminate quarterly online course and instructor evaluation reports.
  • Coordinate collection of assessment data
  • Review and revise basic statistical code.
  • Supports the Institutional Research and Educational Assessment Analyst in assessment activities of its academic and administrative departments by collaborating with other offices to ensure the integrity and usability of its data and information resources.
  • Prepares, maintains, and presents historical and comparative data.
  • Assists in the preparation and submission of mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Responds promptly to university data requests, providing accurate information and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Fulfill ad hoc requests for data and information from offices on campus.

Other Qualifications

  • Must be able to collect, compile, analyze and report data from internal information systems.
  • Experience with any relational database, SPSS is desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of descriptive statistics (frequencies, cross-tabulation, and means/medians)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Accuracy of work, attention to detail, time management skills and ability to meet deadlines is essential.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, business, or other fields relevant to institutional research is required. 1 year of effective experience in collecting, compiling, analyzing, reporting data from internal information systems, and interpreting statistical data required. Proficient in the use of computer software for data extraction, verification, and analysis.

Computer Skills

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite which includes Word, Outlook and an emphasis on Access and Excel. Knowledge of relational databases such as SPSS, is preferred.

Language Skills

Intermediate skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to top management, and boards of directors. 

Reasoning Ability

Intermediate skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. 

Mathematical Ability

Intermediate skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical interference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
