Midwestern University is Hiring an Assistant Professor, Ophthalmology - AZ- AZCOPT Near Glendale, AZ

Position Title :Assistant Professor / Full-time non-tenure track Ophthalmology
Responsibilities:
Candidates are expected to be highly skilled clinicians who can provide clinical instruction to professional students as well asresidents, and be involved in interdisciplinary practice with other educational professionals. Candidates must be willing to actively participate in curricular assessment, professional development, student counseling and service activities within the college, university and the scientific community. Successful candidates are also expected to be involved in research and scholarly activities, and have a sincere commitment to optometric education, community service and patient care. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
a) Teaching
  • Precepting students on clinical rotation at the Midwestern University Eye Institute;
  • Precepting residents on clinical rotation at the Midwestern University Eye Institute;
  • Training optometric students and residents in pre and post-operative care of ocular surgery patients;
  • Demonstrating and developing accepted optometric business management concepts and practices to prepare the students for entry into practice and aid in the expansion of the Eye Institute patient census;
  • Maintaining and expanding the high quality clinical practice environment for optometry students on rotation;
  • Developing and delivering lectures and/or laboratories for ocular surgery pre and post-operative care, ocular disease treatment and management and other courses, as assigned;
  • Embracing and enhancing the didactic philosophies in the O.D. program;
b) Service
  • Working closely together with all optometry faculty
  • Maintaining a strong interdisciplinary focus
  • Participating in leadership roles in state, regional, and national research/ophthalmology organizations
  • Participating on College and University committees, as assigned
  • Participating in College and University service activities
c) Scholarly activity
  • Engaging in scholarly activity, including presentations at scientific meetings, research, and publication in peer-reviewed journals
Qualifications:
Candidates must be licensed by the Arizona Medical Board and Board Certified in Ophthalmology.Primary eye care clinical expertise is also required.4 years of experience in patient care is preferred.
Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching, must demonstrate excellent communication skills, and value the importance of teamwork.
Salary:
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
