Microsoft is Hiring a Principal Product Manager Near Redmond, WA

Security represents the most critical priorities for our customers in a world awash in digital threats, regulatory scrutiny, and estate complexity. Microsoft Security aspires to make the world a safer place for all. We want to reshape security and empower every user, customer, and developer with a security cloud that protects them with end to end, simplified solutions. The Microsoft Security organization accelerates Microsoft’s mission and bold ambitions to ensure that our company and industry is securing digital technology platforms, devices, and clouds in our customers’ heterogeneous environments, as well as ensuring the security of our own internal estate.Companies collectively own Exabytes of data across hundreds of billions of streams, files, tables, reports, spreadsheets, VMs (Virtual Machines), Notebooks, and so on. Yet customers can’t answer basic questions like what data do they have. What’s in that data? Can they trust the data assets enough to build their business on them? Are the Data Assets being used in ways that comply with both legal and corporate policies? Microsoft Purview’s job is to answer these questions for customers by building a Software as a Service infrastructure to: Automatically scan and categorize (classify, label etc.) all forms of data everywhere they live, from on-premises, to Azure, to other clouds to Software as a Service platforms, Enable customers to define the data policies they need to meet corporate and government compliance requirements and then enforce those policies on the customer's behalf and Make all this data discoverable and re-usable at scale, Lay the foundations for effective data governance.Microsoft Purview connects with other data processing, storage, and analytics systems to extract lineage information. Your data estate may include systems doing data extraction, transformation (ETL (Extract, Transform and Load)/ELT (Extract, Load and Transform) systems), analytics, and visualization systems. Each of the systems captures rich static and operational metadata that describes the state and quality of the data within the systems boundary. Consistently governing and protecting data across an organization’s multi-cloud hybrid data estate is complex, highly manual and time consuming. Purview manages data policies across a customer’s heterogenous data estates based on “who (user/group) should have access to what kinds of data (e.g., “PII data” (Personal Identifiabkle Information), etc.) and for what purpose (user behavior analytics, etc.)” using information in the Purview platform. In addition, Policy Services automates the process to enable data consumers (from analysts to developers to threat researchers and more) to easily find the data they need and request access to that data in the context of their purpose of use. Granting access to those requests is governed – i.e., done by the appropriate data owners and in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
