Summary

The focus of this position is on helping our team in developing clinical decision support systems for cerebral aneurysm detection and rupture prediction. We are specifically seeking a candidate with experience in handing multimodal data and hands-on experience of neurosymbolic architectures. You'll tackle real-world healthcare and biomedical challenges through innovative machine learning solutions. Collaborate with experts in neuroscience, engineering, and medicine at the University of Michigan-Flint and collaborating institutes.

Responsibilities*

  • Design and develop clinical decision support systems (CDSS) tailored for cerebral aneurysm detection and rupture prediction.
  • Utilize expertise in handling multimodal data sources, integrating various types of medical imaging and patient structured and unstructured data
  • Implement neurosymbolic architectures to enhance the accuracy and interpretability of the decision support systems
  • Conduct research and experimentation to optimize machine learning algorithms for clinical management of cerebral aneurysm management.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams comprising neuroscience, engineering, and medical experts from the University of Michigan-Flint and partner institutions
  • Participate in regular meetings and discussions to exchange ideas, provide updates on project progress, and solicit feedback for continuous improvement
  • Document methodologies, results, and findings in technical reports and academic publications for dissemination within the scientific community

Required Qualifications*

  • Master degree in Computer Science or a related field with interest in multimodal medical data processing and deep learning with a track record publications at top-tier conferences and/or high-impact journals in the field
  • Strong knowledge in Machine/Deep Learning with experience in multimodal AI, federated learning, and Neuro-symbolic AI
  • Excellent programming skills in Python and PyTorch
  • One year of professional research experience

Work Schedule

Appointment will begin May 1 and continue until the end of the summer semester.
