Metropolitan Family Services is Hiring an Out-of-School Time Activity Worker Near Chicago, IL

We are currently searching for an hourly Out-of-School Time Activity Worker to join our team!
Our Community Schools operate during non-school hours and expand positive choices and opportunities for youth while achieving academic success.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Plan and lead one or several activity programs in out-of-school time.
  • Enter attendance records and other daily or periodic information in participant files as required by program.
  • Arrange and lead student and family field trips.
  • Handle routine student discipline in the classroom, referring students to OST Coordinator as necessary.
  • Take a lead role in maintaining participant files and other program records.
  • May contact parents by phone or in person to obtain consents and other required information for student files.
  • May create schedules for other OST workers in staffing the program.
  • Attend staff meetings and other program-related meetings as scheduled.
  • Provide feedback to program supervisor on participant progress.
  • Utilize program curricula as provided in planning program activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other program staff.
  • Act as liaison to classroom teachers as appropriate and requested.
  • Attend training as required to improve essential skills.
  • Be available, as circumstances require, for extra and weekend hours as scheduled by program.
  • Create and distribute flyers regarding program events to program participants.
  • Enter data into computer database as required by funders and agency.
  • Functions as coordinator in absence of Program Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel, agency staff, parents and community partners.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and some weekends.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • MFS staff are required to provide proof of vaccination or have an approved Medical exemption prior to starting employment. If an approved Medical is obtained, weekly testing may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
SALARY:
  • Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for the position is $16-17 per hour
