A non-exempt position responsible for carrying out policies and procedures of the health information management department. This position requires full understanding and active participation in the mission of Metrolina Nephrology Associates. The employee shall support Metrolina Nephrology Associates' strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement and patient safety activities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job (not limited to):

• Process incoming faxes
• Obtain missing or incomplete patient information
• Analyze charts for document deficiencies
• Route documents to appropriate recipients from TouchChart
• Communicates as needed with providers to obtain additional information
• Reconciles daily hospital follow-up schedule to ensure documents are available
• Process phone requests
• Follow HIPAA and MNA patient consent/confidentiality protocols
• Obtain records from external facilities
• Chart merges for duplicate charts
• Compile and upload records for Risk Adjustment requests
• Process mail (interoffice, Postal, and office mailbox)
• Miscellaneous projects delegated by supervisor

This role requires on-site attendance at our Freedom Dr. office.

Qualifications:

• Minimum one-year experience working in a healthcare practice
• Data entry speed of 45 wpm with 95% accuracy preferred
• Possess basic knowledge of HIPAA and Release of Information rules and regulations
• Time management and organization skills required
• Ability to work independently and within a team

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
