Job Posting Summary

Brief Description of Job Duties:

- Peer tutors are students who work collaboratively with Introduction to Psychology students to provide individual and group tutoring sessions and outreach to those wishing to enhance their study skills.

Essential Duties:

- Providing academic tutoring

- Providing study skills strategies on an individual/group basis

- Introducing students to academic support services

- Guiding students through short- and long-term planning

- Monitor the academic progress of referred students, provide feedback to faculty, and keep all matters confidential.

Qualifications

Required Skills : Strong interpersonal skills; written & oral expression; competence in area of academic expertise, PSYN 101. *Student will receive regular guidance on tutoring and mentoring on best practices from the Psychology Program Director and Department Chair.

Specific Skills and Necessary Experience :

- Junior or senior Behavioral Science or Psychology majors who received B or higher grade in PSYN 101 - Introduction to Psychology

- Good academic standing, minimum GPA of 3.0 cumulative

- Excellent presentation and communication skills

- Demonstrate the ability to follow through on responsibilities.

- Show a willingness to contribute to PSYN 101 experience.

- Willingness to develop a rapport with PSYN 101 faculty and their students.
