Are you a strategic problem solver passionate about changing patient's lives through innovative technologies and digital experiences? As a Senior Product Planning Specialist , your days will not always be the same. You may be working with global colleagues to prioritize geographies for future product launch timelines. The next day you may be assessing market research to determine what mix of product features increase market share. Your role will be focused on driving therapy and portfolio strategies to determine the product development and portfolio investment decisions across the Pelvic Health (PH) portfolio. This role requires a strategic thinker, deliberate executer, close collaborator, and committed team player, focused on solving for patient and physician unmet needs.
You will work closely with a team of upstream marketers and cross functional partners to identify opportunities to expand the current and future PH portfolio while keeping growth and profitability considerations in mind. In this role you will craft compelling business case and opportunity assessments by weaving together competitive intelligence, market trends, clinical outcomes, and financial modeling to inform the product pipeline across geographies. This requires a strong quantitative skillset as well as the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with experts in global marketing, health economics & reimbursement, and other functions that are critical to expanding Pelvic Health's ability to positively influence patient's lives.
This role is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and will have a hybrid work schedule. For highly talented individuals, there is the potential to discuss remote work opportunities.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Build deep expertise in current and adjacent disease states, therapies, competitive landscape, clinical and evidence data, and market dynamics
Define unmet needs and value propositions while monitoring competitive landscape and understanding technology advancements in and around the Pelvic Health market
Generate opportunity assessments, assessing market opportunity through detailed quantitative and qualitative market modeling.
Develops a coordinated, long-range product plan that meets customer (payer, physician, consumer) requirements and is technically feasibleAssesses customer requirements through feedback from Product Managers, market research, development and execution of customer feedback programs
Interfaces with physicians to identify key strategic areas of focus and obtain feedback regarding current and future product plans
Spend time in the field with sales personnel and customers to understand their perspectives, needs and ideas to inform strategy and program requirements
Participates with product managers and R&D teams to translate customer requirements into meaningful projects/products and negotiates trade-offs necessary to meet technical feasibility and customer requirements
Interacts and works closely with other departments, such as but not limited to Global Marketing Teams, Research and Technology, Research and Development, Health Economics and Reimbursement, Sales, Medical Education, Field Training and Development, Finance and Clinical to ensure marketing programs achieve Medtronic's short and long-term goals while remaining consistent with the organization's overall mission
Prepare presentations and supporting materials to align Medtronic executive leadership with the Pelvic Health product strategy board in order to continue investing in new market opportunities and core team phase reviews needed to continue the growth trajectory of the business
Travel approximately 20-25%
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
Nice to Have
Knowledge of the medical device industry, health care delivery, and the factors that drive them
Proficient with data analytics and quantitative modeling
Contributes to the completion of work group objectives, through building relationships and consensus to reach agreements on assignments
Ability to navigate ambiguous business problems then creatively structure an approach to identify multiple solutions and make a recommendation on an appropriate path forward
Product development and launch experience
Global responsibilities or projects spanning outside US markets
Sales orientation or exposure to working with a high performing salesforce
Demonstrated experience in developing digital strategies
