Position Description
Maintains all aspects of the Surgical Pathology, Autopsy, gross room and frozen section room areas. Responsible for assisting PA, residents, faculty, and staff in grossing room, special procedures, and autopsy. Receives and accessions specimens and evaluates specimen acceptability. Transports specimens, labels slides and prepares cassettes for each case. Able to complete department record and supply maintenance and proficient in necessary computer systems.

Position Requirements
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. Must have knowledge of laboratory and hospital regulations; ability to prioritize tasks and make immediate decisions and laboratory technical skills for pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical tasks; able to perform and oversee some waived testing; leadership skills.

Preferred Requirements
Associates Degree in Science/Laboratory related field. ASCP, AMT, NHA, NCCT, ABB, NPA or eligible for certification by an agency recognized by the Georgia Department of Community Health or experienced in Autopsy/Surgical Samples.
