Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I , Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research-Boehm Group/Sanchez-Rivera Lab, to assist with two goals: optimizing new genome engineering technologies for disease modeling and high-throughput functional genomics in primary-patient organoids and cell lines; and deciphering mechanisms of specific "dependency Quantitative Trait Loci (dQTLs) that have emerged as promising candidates. The labs work together to support precision medicine equity efforts by developing and deploying genome engineering technologies to understand the function of somatic and germline variation in the genomes of cancer patients. This includes elucidating the impact of germline genomics and patient ancestry on the discovery and development of novel anti-cancer therapeutic targets. The Boehm group leverages genomics, morphological profiling, and patient-partnered research to facilitate CRISPR and drug perturbation studies in heterogenous patient tissues. The Sanchez-Rivera group develops and applies precision genome engineering technologies and single cell genomics to study cancer evolution. The main responsibilities of the technical associate will be to perform standard wet-lab and biology experiments; mechanistic studies of dQTLs and quantitative molecular analyses; next-generation sequencing, western blotting, single cell genomics, and morphological profiling; optimizing CRISPR screens in challenging model systems, in collaboration with HTS and Broad Institute colleagues; learning and applying basic computational analysis to design reagents, run existing pipelines, and visualize data; keeping detailed records of plans, progress, and results; giving journal club and lab progress presentations at lab meetings; and working collaboratively with other scientists in both laboratories.

Job RequirementsREQUIRED: bachelor's degree in molecular biology or related field; two years of relevant lab experience (may include experience gained as an undergraduate); self-motivation and a high degree of independence; ability to collaborate with others; and excellent written and oral communication skills.
