What You Will Do:
- Perform echocardiography on adults and pediatric patients following established lab protocols and best practices.
- Prioritize patient lists based on severity of illness, special procedures, requests, and equipment availability.
- Conduct quality control checks to maintain the highest standards of imaging.
- Manage the procurement, storage, and distribution of supplies for the operation room.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and disinfection of reusable instruments.
- Review patient information and orders, confirming the type of exam and diagnosis, and identifying the interpreting physician.
- Upload examination images and data into the PACs system and enter findings upon exam completion.
- Provide guidance and evaluation for ultrasound students as required.
- Communicate technical and patient care information following established processes and timelines.
- High school graduate or GED equivalency.
- Graduate of a CAAHEP approved school of ultrasound or cardiovascular technology or equivalent experience.
- In-depth knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound principles, concepts, and methodology to perform high-quality diagnostic studies.
- Ability to identify and differentiate between healthy and pathological areas in images.
- Skill in tailoring the scope of an exam by adding additional images as dictated by pathology.
- Understanding of cardiac cross-sectional anatomy and pathophysiology.
- Proficiency in m-mode, doppler, and color flow characteristics.
- Ability to recognize cardiac structures viewed from various angles.
- Knowledge of ultrasound physics and instrumentation to identify and eliminate artifacts and optimize images.
- Competence in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting cardiovascular equipment.
- Current certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR certification within one year of hire date.
- BLS certification required upon hire - AHA American Heart Association.
