Marbles Kids Museum is Hiring a Graphic Designer Near Raleigh, NC

Graphic Designer
Marbles Kids Museum is a vibrant, nonprofit children's museum and IMAX Theatre located in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Marbles has been sparking imagination, discovery, and learning through play since opening its doors in 2007. Marbles' serves a diverse population of families, school groups, and community organizations through award-winning play-based exhibits, summer camps, IMAX documentaries, feature movies, and special events year-round. Today Marbles ranks among the top family destinations in North Carolina providing learning experiences for children with creative programs, and larger-than-life movies.
The opportunity
Marbles is searching for an organized and detail oriented Graphic Designer who will be responsible for creating visually engaging designs that align with the Marbles brand standards for exhibits, campaigns, promotional needs, programmatic initiatives, and events. This role provides creative work that meets the brand's standards and positions the organization and its mission through strong visual communications.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create and adhere to the Marbles brand identity and guidelines.
  • Create original designs that communicate the desired feeling or message in a unified way.
  • Select fonts, photography, and other design elements, in conjunction with original designs, for approval to the Marketing team (and other departments as determined by the creative brief/scope of project/VP, Marketing & Sales).
  • Consult with senior graphic designer on designs and other team members as needed on specialized projects.
  • Collaborate across teams to understand intended message and execute projects as it relates to the primary objectives.
  • Revise projects as necessary based on the collaborative feedback process.
  • Prepare print orders and assembly instructions on notification of final approval.
  • Install graphics and signage fabrication as part of exhibits, events, and programming.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the manager.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Art or related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of related work experience is highly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite or other similar design software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. at times.
  • Role requires walking, standing, stooping, bending.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • 95% indoors.
  • Occasional evening and weekend shifts are required to support busy operations and events.
