Position Summary

The Senior Designer will collaborate closely with the engineering team and project managers to ensure accurate and high-quality designs that meet project specifications. Your role will involve leading the creation, modification, and designs plans for complex projects in the commercial, industrial, industrial plumbing, process piping and HVAC fields. Your responsibilities will extend to supervising a CAD designer, including providing guidance, training, and feedback to help develop their skills. You will review their work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with our standards. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving any complex design issues that may arise. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Strong communication skills are essential for presenting design concepts to clients and collaborating with team members

Position Duties

• Work independently as the project design lead collaborating with PM and support engineers to develop engineering and fabrication drawings/models
• Assist on 2D and 3D preparations of drawings, using computer aided design (CAD) or building information modeling (BIM)
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
• Design and prepare detailed electronic (CAD) working plans, charts, and/or scale drawings for complex projects from observation, measurements, sketches, and specifications
• Prepare electronic layouts, charts, detailed scale drawings, and material and equipment requirements from sketches, specifications, and standard layouts provided by customers and/or Project Manager. Review and manipulate electronic files received from consultants and departmental contacts
• Modify computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during actual construction
• Provides technical expertise and guidance to the team, reviewing design proposals, identifying risks, and making critical decisions to ensure successful project implementation
• Manages the performance of the CAD team by setting performance goals, conducting regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback, and identifying opportunities for professional development

Desired Qualifications

· Years of Experience: 3-6 years of sufficient experience in drafting with a concentration in commercial, industrial. and institutional plumbing, process piping. and HVAC or Mechanical Engineering Design firm.

· Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 3 years of engineering management and supervision with proven ability to lead a team towards achieving common goals
