What began in 1989 as an academic after school tutoring and support program for 46 5th graders, Making Waves Education Program, has evolved into the opening in 2007 of Making Waves Academy, a tuition-free public charter school serving 5th-12th grade students. We also started the College and Alumni Program (CAP) to provide a critical bridge between college acceptance and college graduation. Making Waves Foundation provides the financial, intellectual and material resources to support Making Waves Academy and operate the College and Alumni Program (CAP). The Foundation also acts as the real esta...te provider for Making Waves Academy. Making Waves Foundation acquires real estate that enables Making Waves Academy to bring its charter school model to new locations and expand the existing Richmond, California campus.
