Summary

The Glickman Lauder Center of Excellence in Autism and Developmental Disorders is looking for a Registered Nurse to provide nursing care to day treatment school programs. This is a Monday-Friday 7:45-4:15 with no weekends or holidays.

The Center of Excellence is a full-service integrated treatment, research, and training center designed to meet the needs of Maine families, generate new treatment models, and advance autism science for the benefit of all. New and expanded services include child and adult outpatient clinics, preschool, K-12 day treatment and early intervention in-home services.

Prior Psychiatric Nursing experience preferred but not required.

Position Summary

  • Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, this position is responsible for assisting with total patient care in our day treatment program and as needed in our outpatient setting. The outpatient setting coverage would include performing clinical duties, responding to patient telephone inquiries, and coordinating care both at the office and at outside facilities. A Behavioral RN II is an accomplished professional nurse with experience in the care of youth with behavioral health challenges.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing. BSN/MSN preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Active State of Maine Nursing License or eligible for licensure. Current BLS required.
  • Experience: > 2 years nursing experience with the child developmental disabilities population
  • Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure and functions; and community resources
  • Knowledge of chart/medical record documentation requirements and federal/state laws related to release of health care information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, supervisors and other staff
  • Skill in time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing and medical care coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret physicians orders and notes from other providers
  • Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages and injections and measure results
  • Ability to organize and accomplish multiple tasks and to have the flexibility to meet changing demands on a daily basis
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner even under stressful situations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient computer skills
