Overview:

MANAGER, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Perform a variety of responsibilities related to managing registered apprenticeship programs with area companies, as well as develop, strengthen, and support workforce development strategies and initiatives to aid area businesses in attracting, developing, and retaining employees.

Responsibilities:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
Apprenticeship Program Management Manage CEGs Group Sponsor apprenticeship program, acting as a liaison between companies and the New York State Department of Labor
Work with companies to design, implement, and oversee apprenticeship programs, including coordinating and leading regularly scheduled meetings with companies and partners
Build relationships with regional companies, educators, and government officials to expand the utilization of registered apprenticeship programs in the Capital Region
Give presentations to companies, partners, and business groups to share information about apprenticeship programs
Establish and maintain program records, data, and information including official documents and project tracking via CRM input
Oversee program evaluation and manage continuous improvement actions, including bi-annual monitoring with NYSDOL
Coordinate regional activities with the Manufacturing Alliance of New York State and confer with state-wide partners to identify ongoing statewide training needs
Develop, prepare, and monitor program budgets, contracts, and agreements
Assist companies in identifying, understanding, and accessing grant and incentive programs available
Identify and obtain grants, revenue-generating options, and other funding sources
Develop and implement systems to maintain records on compliance activities
Work with industry consultants and other experts as needed in the development of apprentice programs
Workforce Development Management Maintain a pulse on the most pressing workforce challenges facing the employer community
Strategize and inform future workforce development initiatives based on the needs of the community
Build cooperative relationships with other local, regional, statewide, and national organizations in support of manufacturing workforce development including, but not limited to community colleges, vocational programs, government agencies, economic development organizations, labor organizations, and the Workforce Investment Board (WIB)
Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support workforce programming
Manage workforce funding and programming related to regional industry attraction and expansion activities

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Business Administration, Education, or equivalent work experience
Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with external clients
Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced team environment
Highly organized, adaptable quick learner, detail-oriented, and proactive work ethic
Ability to occasionally attend various events beyond regular office hours
Ability to make effective presentations to management-level personnel
Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Knowledge of Salesforce, or other CRM is helpful.
Workforce programming experience, apprenticeship experience preferred
Familiarity with state and federal grant programs and processes related to workforce development preferred
Working knowledge of community college systems and other industry training providers, preferred
