Job Description

As such, the Embedded Systems team is seeking engineers who can harness their education and experience to generate and realize innovative, outside-the-box solutions to technical problems. Our hardware engineers are commonly engaged in the following activities:

  • Read and understand component datasheets for a wide range of passive components and ICs
  • Developing custom schematics to handle power management, signal processing, controls, etc.
  • Design custom-printed circuit boards for analog and digital applications
  • Soldering components to assemble custom circuit boards
  • Testing and verification of custom circuit board designs
  • Produce and maintain project documentation related to software, firmware, and hardware systems
  • Act in the capacity of a design lead in support of early-stage research and prototype development
  • Address complex and difficult technical issues requiring highly creative approaches, drawing on advanced engineering concepts
  • Lead design and development efforts in the areas of embedded systems, signal processing, system control, power supply development, etc.
  • Planning and execution of preliminary and critical design reviews, and associated design review documentation
  • Creating custom firmware implementations on a variety of platforms for implementation into advanced test fixtures, prototype designs, and marketable products

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong technical writing, speaking, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment involving close interaction with other engineers within the department as well as other scientists in the company
  • Must be a US Citizen, or Permanent Resident, to meet project contract requirements

Bonus Skills/Experience

Below is a list of supplemental skills, any combination of which would benefit the department. This list is an indication of the type of work electronics engineers perform at Lynntech, as all of the items below are directly related to active/recent Lynntech projects.

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field or 0-4 years of progressively complex engineering experience, preferably in a technology development oriented industrial setting
  • Knowledge and experience in PCB design methods and tools such as Altium Designer
  • Programming experience in C/C , VHDL, C#, and Python
  • SPICE modeling applied to analog and digital circuit development
  • Demonstrates extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule and conduct the tasks necessary to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership
  • Experience with signal processing in the context of biomedical applications
  • Experience in troubleshooting of complex embedded systems
  • Experience with creative technical writing and grantsmanship skills
  • Knowledge and experience in power supply design, embedded processor solutions, filtering, and data acquisition development (A/D and D/A conversion)
  • Knowledge of various communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, serial, USB, CAN, and TCP/IP
  • Basic knowledge of magnetics, magnetic field modeling, and testing
  • Ability to, and experience with, estimating and tracking timelines, and cost needed to execute Engineering work on projects
  • Basic knowledge of systems engineering and the ability to interface with various teams within the technology to product development lifecycle including but not limited to scientific personnel, CAD, mechanical engineers, instrumental, control, machining and fabrication, and system assembly and testing.
  • Experience with electronics engineering design, embedded microcontroller programming, FPGA development, or similar relevant education and experience
  • Working knowledge of general constraints with mechanical and software development (to be able to work with team members with these functionalities)
  • Firmware development (microcontrollers such as the PIC32, ARM, or MSP430)
