JOB DESCRIPTION:

Superintendent plays an integral role leading the daily coordination of field foremen and site crews on electrical, transportation, and roadway lighting projects. Will be required to implement company and regulatory safety regulations. Provide communication to central office and customers regarding schedule and resource management. 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Skilled and technical work in the construction, installation, and repair of traffic signal systems, highway lighting, and other transportation related systems.
  • Supervision and Training of all subordinate employees assigned to the project.
  • Assist Project Manager with material ordering, scheduling, and utility locates.
  • Complete and turn in required personal and project paperwork.
  • Follow requirements for utility locates and permits.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
  • Communications with customers and other contractors.
  • Fulfill the company tool list requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining and renewing required certifications and licenses.
  • Responsible for assigned company vehicle and typically report to work at the job site.
  • Abide by all the company safety rules.
  • Wear proper PPE while on the job site and in the yard for lifting operations to include Safety-toed work boots, safety vest, work gloves, and hard hat.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: 

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum six years of combined related experience, must include Construction Technician I, Construction Technician II, and Construction Foreman I.
  • Operates and performs basic field maintenance on all equipment including but not limited to; aerial lift/bucket trucks, trenchers, derrick/digger trucks, cranes, backhoes, track hoes, air compressors, and concrete saw.
  • Must be proficient at programming and setting up controllers, Conflict monitors / MMU’s, video detection, and communications equipment.
  • Operates Gas torches (cutting and brazing).
  • Must be proficient with basic and specialized hand tools and power tools.
  • Must be familiar with the MUTCD, NEC, CDOT & Local specifications & standards, Customer and Project specific specifications and standards.
  • Must proficiently read plans and schematic diagrams.
  • Must be proficient with advanced computer skills.
  • Ability to efficiently supervise others, proficient problem solving, proper decision making.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical work, often under adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow and transmit clear written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with others.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, and TRAINING: 

  • Must have successfully passed the apprenticeship program as a U.S. Department of Labor “Journeyman Traffic Signal Technician”.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina commercial driver’s license (CDL class A).
  • Must maintain a valid medical card if you have a CDL driver’s license.
  • Must be insurable.
  • Must complete OSHA 30-hour training. “Competent Person”
  • Hazard Communications/MSDS, CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hantavirus, Respiratory Protection
  • Bucket Truck/Aerial Lift and fall protection.
  • Trencher, Excavation, and Utility Damage Prevention.
  • Crane and Rigging/Material Handling
  • NCDOT Flagger Certification.
  • IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification or equivalent (CCA).
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Level I Certification.
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Level II Construction certification and Level II Field Technician Certification or Journeyman Electrician License with appropriate related experience.
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Level III Field Technician Certification or Master Electrician License with appropriate related experience preferred.

This is an hourly position. Hourly rate based on experience. The following benefits are included on the 1st day of the month following your date of hire:
