Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our backend engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Redis, database optimization, the Microsoft C# .NET framework, Azure, GCP, and logging and observability tools like Datadog. This role requires a strategic thinker who can design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient systems, while also driving best DevOps practices and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance system reliability and performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and efficient backend systems using the Microsoft C# .NET framework, particularly focusing on high-performance applications characterized by high throughput and extensive data I/O capabilities. 
  • Implement and oversee DevOps practices, including continuous integration (CI), continuous deployment (CD), and infrastructure as code. 
  • Manage cloud-based infrastructure and services on Azure and GCP, optimizing for scalability and performance. 
  • Employ extensive use of logging and observability tools like Datadog to ensure continuous monitoring and actionable insights. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of systems. 
  • Monitor system performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and apply necessary optimizations to enhance efficiency and throughput. 
  • Manage critical database operations, including backup strategies and disaster recovery processes, to guarantee data integrity and continuous operations. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in technology, and lead the adoption of new technologies and architectural improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing technical teams.
  • Extensive experience with Redis and proven expertise in database optimization techniques. Demonstrated experience in developing high-performance, high-throughput applications using Microsoft C# and the .NET framework. 
  • Proven experience in managing and implementing DevOps practices. 
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms, specifically Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). 
  • Expertise in utilizing logging and observability tools such as Datadog for monitoring and performance tuning. 
  • Strong background in system design and performance tuning. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
