Job Title: Space Vehicle Integration and Test Systems Engineer (Active TS/SCI Clearance Required) Job Code: 10692 Job Location: Remote or Palm Bay, FL or Rochester, NY or Ft. Wayne, IN or Colorado Springs, CO or San Diego, CA Job Description: L3Harris' Space and Airborne Systems seeks a Space Vehicle (SV) Integration and Test systems engineer (I&T SE) to join our growing team. The individual in this role will act as the primary integration and test systems engineer responsible for coordinating and overseeing verification and test planning for the integration of the spacecraft bus, mission payload, and communication payload to ensure seamless end-to-end mission performance. The I&T SE has overall technical responsibility for the design and development of the test plan and flow for the Space Vehicle as well as ownership of the Test Bed and Simulators. The I&T SE serves as the primary point of contact between the SV Engineering team and the Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) execution and operations team and coordinates major integration and test activities. The I&T SE will coordinate all integration and test technical efforts to generate contractually required system design documents and design review technical packages. Essential Functions: * Develops, manages and maintains the verification and test plans and procedures for integrating the spacecraft bus, mission payload and communications payload according to space vehicle level requirements and internal and external ICDs
* Designs tests to verify the functionality, performance, and safety of the space vehicle, including environmental testing (thermal, vibration, and vacuum tests), performance, and functional testing.
* Ensures that the integrated space vehicle, test beds, simulators, Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) meets all technical requirements and specifications through rigorous verification and validation processes.
* Coordinates interfaces between spacecraft bus, mission payload and communications payload, electrical, software, and mechanical interfaces.
* Identifies and resolves technical issues and anomalies that arise during integration and testing, working closely with cross-functional teams to address any discrepancies
* Generates comprehensive documentation, test reports, and data analysis to communicate the results of integration and testing activities
* Identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies to ensure the successful integration and testing of the space vehicle
* Extracts test and environmental requirements from mission-level and CONOPs and cascades them to all levels of space vehicle testing, encompassing allocations into software, firmware, and hardware, as well as test beds and simulators.
* Ensures test functional and physical changes and requirements compliance are being addressed throughout the SV design.
* Maintains cognizance and communicates changes of the SV subcontractor and in-house test programs
* Support to the system modeling teams in generation of Cameo system views and simulations as well as ConOps generation
* Works closely with Software, Mechanical, and Electrical Systems Engineers to own and oversees End-to-End integration and test of spacecraft bus, mission payload, and communications payload across the full program lifecycle
* Represent Space Vehicle integration and test systems engineering during major system level design reviews such as SRR, SDR, PDR and CDR and milestone reviews such as MRR, TRR, PSF, LRR and MDR
* Leads failure review boards, engineering review boards, change control boards to ensure mechanical impacts are coordinated across the SV
* Creating and/or supporting delivery of Customer CDRLS
* 25% travel as required
* Ability to lead diverse technical teams across internal and subcontractor efforts
Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or adjacent field.
* Active TS/SCI clearance.
* Experience with integration and test of spacecraft busses, mission payloads, and communications payloads for seamless end-to-end mission performance.
* Experience interacting with both internal and external supplier integration and test engineering teams.
* Experience with integration, testing, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
Preferred Additional Skills: * Well versed in fleshing out or coordinating physical and functional test interface details such as EGSE/MGSE designs, test software, test instrumentation, command and data handling, communication, and power paths
* Experienced with space vehicle, test bed/simulators, EGSE, and MGSE requirements validation, sell-off, milestone entry/exit criteria
* Familiarity with Digital Engineering and MBSE tools such as CAD, DOORs, CAMEO, CREO, JIRA
* Ability to make risk-based decisions balancing technical, cost and schedule
* Ability to support Space Vehicle level electrical, mechanical, and software analyses and trades
* Strong track record of leading integration and test engineering teams through all phases of a space program; pursuits and proposal, design and development, integration and test, and operations
* Experience in mentoring and growing technical staff
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $106,500 - $197,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
