Summary/Objective:

The Director of Quality will provide leadership with ownership for the quality function and sustain the quality philosophy and lean culture for the division. Establish, maintain and optimize an effective quality management system. Create and implement a quality plan to achieve the levels of quality established through organizational goals, customer expectations, related stakeholders, and market competition. Enhance and improve the division's products and services through the implementation of ISO 9001 compliant systems, problem-solving tools, prevention methods, quality-at-the-source and continual improvement techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrated process management/lean manufacturing/continuous improvement experience as well as knowledge and experience with quality system standards
  2. Collaborates directly with Division Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Engineering and Sales to assure first-time, on-time product conformance to requirements at minimum quality cost
  3. Demonstrated knowledge with application of core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA,) process capability, and error proofing with zero defect mindset.
  4. Demonstrated ability to create, train, monitor, analyze and implement improvements in SPC
  5. Demonstrated leadership in various problem-solving techniques
  6. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from groups of senior leaders, managers, industry professionals, customers, suppliers, and team members
  7. Detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes and related process controls is required.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working indoors, office environment.
  • May sit for several hours at a time.
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens.
  • Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
  2. 7 years of experience in quality assurance or quality management

Essential Functions:

  1. Create and implement a quality plan to achieve the levels of quality established through organizational goals, customer expectations, related stakeholders, and market competition.
  2. Enhance and improve the division's products and services through the implementation of ISO 9001 compliant systems, problem-solving tools, prevention methods, quality-at-the-source and continual improvement techniques.
  3. Analyze quality data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  4. Assesses supplier capabilities and monitors supplier quality to ensure desired levels of performance.
  5. Identify and communicate industry, customer, regulatory standards, and organizational requirements to assure product quality, product compliance and customer satisfaction.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role will be responsible for leading a team of quality professionals including technicians, engineers, and analysts.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salaried position.

Travel:

Travel will be minimal and primarily local during the business day.

Preferred Education and Experience :

  1. Advanced degree
  2. ASQ CQM/OE, CQE, IRCA/RAB Lead Auditor, Six Sigma certification
