Job DescriptionEngineering Lead - ElectrificationResponsible for the engineering of eAxles from concept through the component sourcing phases of a program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to delivering system architectures, preliminary component designs, packaging models and sub system technical specification requirements. The Lead Engineer will work directly with the driveline engineering core, development and releasing organizations in conjunction with the Business Pursuit group to understand customer requirements, translate them into driveline functional objectives and ultimately into a design and set of component specifications. Key Accountabilities
Oversee the daily activities of an eAxle design and development group, including determining prioritization and assessing the status of these activities.
Manage program engineering deliverables.
Ensure high quality designs released on time for assigned programs.
Lead and coordinate resolution to program engineering issues for assigned programs.
Assigns workload and priorities for his/her design engineer team to meet project objectives
Develop and continuously improve the engineering failure analysis and design process.
Lead the engineering teams regarding customer communications involving any issues being worked.
Ensure timely response to customer on technical issues and program engineering deliverables.
Assists design engineers to ensure that they consider value engineering during all phases of product development to save customer any unnecessary costs
Report analysis status and results periodically to senior management.
Participates in Design Reviews and oversees the communication of project status and issues with the department manager and the team members in order to effectively resolve issues as they arise.
Reviews the results of testing performed during design validation process with design engineers, and oversees the implementation of any changes resulting from any test failures.
Identifies, recommends, and coordinates the implementation of new policies, procedures, or process improvements relating to the design and development process for new innovation programs
Ensure data is collected, analyzed and corrective actions implemented for team metrics.
Works with team to improve their skills and competencies, using feedback, coaching, motivation, and mentoring techniques
Facilitates personal development, positive employee relations and work environment for departmental staff.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical is required.
Master of Science in Engineering is advantageous.
Minimum of 7-10 years engineering experience in powertrain or driveline.

Ability to provide technical mentorship to other engineers
Engineering change control processes and evaluation of change options
Proficient with GD&T, dimensional tolerancing and tolerance stacks
Strong decision making skills with the ability to grasp technical concepts
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (i.e. casting, forging, machining and assembly)
Ability to prioritize and work multiple tasks to completion
Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills to ensure clear and effective group communication with fellow engineers, customers, sales and manufacturing
Proficient with application of DFMEA, DVPR and Control Plans
MS Office proficient
Strong analytical skills with ability to conduct engineering calculations, use/support predictive software tools, accurate definition of load/boundary conditions for CAE, utilize statistical and numerical methods for design optimization
Experience with CAD/CAE is desirable
In-depth technical subject matter knowledge for their engineering product
Problem Solving – Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
