Join Our Team as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT)!

About us

At Psychotherapy Center, Inc. , we are a small private mental health office dedicated to providing high-quality psychotherapy services through telehealth located in Costa Mesa, California. We are currently seeking a passionate and qualified Associate Marriage and Family Therapist to join our team on a part-time basis.

As an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, you will have the opportunity to engage in direct client contact for 10 hours per week, exclusively through Telehealth platforms. In addition, you will spend 1 hour of weekly Supervision, totaling 11 hours per week. This position offers a flexible work schedule. All work is done remote.

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT)

· Individual, children, teens, couples, and family therapy

· Clients are provided for you

Schedule:

  • Part-time 11 hours per week.
  • Create your own schedule.
  • Monday to Friday (Flexible), & Saturday required.
  • 10 client sessions per week. Sessions are 50 minutes each, with 10 minutes documentation.
  • Supervision and paperwork time are paid.
  • Monday Morning Group and/or Individual Supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • · Must possess a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy (Required)
  • · Must be registered with the BBS as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and have an assigned number (must be able to provide proof at time of employment)
  • · Must have liability insurance or be able to obtain at own expense at time of employment
  • · Must have 1 year of (internship) experience working in the mental health field minimum
  • · Preferred if you have LESS than 1,500 post-degree hours earned towards licensure. (For example, you still need to earn at least 1,000 more hours until licensed. We are looking for individuals who need a good amount of hours until licensed.)

* * EMDR trained (REQUIRED)

Fluent Spanish Speaking (Preferred)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Remembering to always provide caring and compassionate counseling to everyone you treat
  • Timely completion of notes. Notes are simple and include a diagnosis, progress note and your treatment plan.
  • Attend weekly paid group and individual Supervision
  • Strive to increase professional growth and effectiveness through training, participating in clinical consultation, seeking outside support and by keeping abreast of current trends and theories in relevant areas.
  • Provide direct behavioral health services including mental health (i.e., psycho/social assessments, consultation, individual/group/ family therapy, professional in-service training and community education services, etc.) at a rate that achieves or exceeds the minimum direct service standard as established annually.
  • Provides crisis intervention services when authorized and necessary
  • Maintains appropriate state license/registration/certification for scope of practice.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as delegated.

  • DEPENDABILITY - Employee can be counted on to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner with little supervision. Accepts responsibility when necessary to see that the job gets done.
  • ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY - Is prompt and on time for work, assignments and meetings. Notifies supervisor prior to lateness or absence. Understands that excess absences pose a hardship on other employees.
  • JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE - Employee completes all chart related documents and correspondence for assigned clients in a timely manner. Employee understands Laws and Ethics specific to the therapist profession.
  • Employee provides individual counseling, and facilitates educational, skill development and counseling groups as assigned and properly and promptly charts these activities in client records
  • Employee works cooperatively with other community resources, treatment team members and referral sources to coordinate services to clients.
  • QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF WORK – Cares about the quality and accuracy of work being produced. Accepts responsibility for completing job tasks. Uses time productively and efficiently.
  • ATTITUDE – Demonstrates a cooperative, positive, and enthusiastic attitude toward fellow employees, clients and visitors. Maintains a positive attitude in carrying out assignments and is helpful and courteous to fellow employees.
  • CONFIDENTIALITY - Know and follows confidentiality law and HIPAA procedures at all times.
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS-Is effective in written and oral expression. Demonstrates proper telephone etiquette and able to communicate easily with colleagues, clients, referral sources, and visitors in an appropriate manner. Relates to clients and co-workers in a respectful and professional manner.
  • CONDUCT – Conducts one’s self in a manner consistent with the agency’s code of ethics and code of conduct. Shows professionalism in office setting.
  • FLEXIBILITY / HANDLING EMERGENCIES – Responds well to changing situations or routines. Handles crisis situation calmly and professionally.
  • AWARENESS OF THERAPEUTIC ISSUES- Employee is aware of transference/countertransference issues that may impact the therapeutic relationship and seeks appropriate consultation and supervision.
  • JUDGMENT - the individual displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment, and makes timely decisions. Decisions reflect understanding of Laws and Ethics of therapist profession.
  • PLANNING/ORGANIZING - the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
