Hourly Pay Rate - $25.00-$36.00 Hourly $5000 sign on Bonus

MAJOR DUTIES: The Family Therapist works under the supervision of the Program Director. This position is responsible for clinical services working with individuals with mental health disorders and their families. In fulfilling these duties, the incumbent performs the following duties independently:

  1. Documented skills, training, and/or education in family theory & techniques as consistent with WAC 246-341 & WAC 246-809-121;
  2. Conduct family assessments;
  3. Provide in-home and in-office family (both individual and conjoint) therapy with high risk clients and their families;
  4. Conduct a family education group;
  5. Attend and offer input at weekly case staff meetings and court;
  6. Work as part of a treatment team;
  7. Maintain complete and up to date clinical files that document all services and contacts provided consistent with the requirements of WAC 246-341 (if applicable);
  8. Supports and implements agency policies and procedures;
  9. Represents the Agency in the community at various meetings and clinical reviews with the approval of the supervisor;
  10. Available on-call to ensure continuity of care for agency clients; and
  11. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy, with current State of Washington credential;

2. A valid, unencumbered Washington or Oregon driver’s license is required. (This position requires using personal vehicle to drive consumers in the community.);

3. Must successfully pass a criminal history background check and be capable of obtaining jail clearance;

4. Ability to work with diverse populations who vary significantly, including social strata, age, education, race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation;

5. Experience working with mental health disorders, dual-diagnosis and family systems;

6. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to help consumers achieve their goals;

7. An understanding of local community services;

8. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with community agencies and service providers;

9. Ability to communicate clearly;

10. Great attendance;

11. Ability to work well with others.

GUIDELINES

The position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain Washington State licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Mental Health Counselor.

 COMPLEXITY

The incumbent provides individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, case management and diagnostic services to patients who differ widely in age and socioeconomic status and who may possess a variety of chronic and serious social, behavioral and psychological problems. Strong clinical skills, sound judgment, and creativity are required to help implement and deliver treatment services that will meet the complex needs of the patients.

 PERSONAL CONTACTS

Contacts are with members of the treatment team, patients, significant others and families of the consumers, representatives of various community agencies specializing in the treatment of chemical abuse and mental illness, and related community representatives including hospital personnel, lawyers, probation officers, and other court officials. All personal contacts are carried out in accordance with federal and state laws dealing with the confidentiality of patient records.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak clearly, hear and use hands and fingers to manipulate writing utensils and keys on a keyboard. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or move a maximum of 20 lbs. Occasional heavy lifting may be required.

 WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Working hours are spent indoors in offices or meeting rooms or in the community meeting with consumers in their homes, the county jail, or health clinics. Occasional supervision of outdoor activities, visits to community agencies, and participation in staff retreats and staff development activities may be required.
