Job Title: Store Manager
Reports to: Corporate Officers
Supervises: All store employees
Status: Exempt

Promote an environment that provides world class customer service by listening, responding to, and satisfying customer needs.

Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for the daily operations of his/her store location, ensuring the highest standard of guest satisfaction is provided by all store employees. The Store Manager ensures all financial goals are met by adhering to expense and labor budgets in addition to maximizing sales by supporting corporate merchandising directives. The Store Manager is an expert within in the store regarding company policies and procedures. The Store Manager oversees the activities of the Store Operations Manager and the Merchandise Manager by providing training, evaluations and empowerment. The Store Manager works diligently to foster a positive work environment for all employees and an inviting atmosphere for customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead by example by greeting all customers with a smile and friendly attitude
  • Maintain a neat and clean environment in all areas of the store
  • Assist corporate personnel in the development of challenging, yet attainable expense, labor and sales goals
  • Understand financial relationship amongst expenses, inventory, margins and sales-teach assistant managers to understand these relationships
  • Operate the store within budget guidelines and communicate with the CFO if revisions are necessary
  • Knowledgeable of general day-to-day operations of each store department and function in the store
  • Act as an advocate and resource for all company policies and procedures and effectively communicate any changes to all store employees
  • Oversee all hiring, training, development and performance evaluations of all store employees
  • Identify, mentor and develop employees interested in promotion within Lewis Drug
  • Communicate future staffing needs to Human Resources
  • Work with the corporate merchandise team in attaining the corporate specified store image
  • Ensure aisles, sidewalks, entries and service areas are clean and free of hazards and debris and are in safe working order
  • Immediately report any damage, leaks, etc. to the Facilities department as well as make suggestions of store improvements for consideration in the annual planning budget
  • Properly report any injury (customer or employee) in a timely manner
  • Regularly meet with store employees to review goals, priorities and provide constructive feedback
Employee Role Expectations
  • Must be on the sales floor 95% of a shift, visible to customers and employees-office time is prohibited during peak customer periods
  • Professional and conservative in manner and dress
  • Promote Lewis Drug in positive way within the community
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Must be a self-starter and an agent of change within the store
  • Ability to maintain composure when dealing with challenging situations
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills
  • Desire to teach and empower others to succeed
  • Support corporate directives and decisions
  • Effectively communicate with customers and all levels of Lewis Drug employees
  • Receptive and responsive to criticism and feedback from customers, store employees and corporate staff
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience as a Lewis Drug Assistant Manager preferred
  • Demonstrated effectiveness of communication with customers and employees
  • High level of knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Ability to read, interpret and act on corporate financial documents and reports
  • Must have basic math and computer skills
  • Willingness to move or relocate as needed
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to constantly move about the sales floor
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally with or without accommodation
  • Occasionally work in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity
  • Must be able to frequently position self to assist with stocking and other merchandising requirements
  • Occasionally operate a cash register and any/all store equipment
  • May be required to work 6 days per week during peak seasons
