Lee County Government is Hiring a Maintenance Specialist Near Fort Myers, FL


This position is responsible to clean, maintain and provide safe parks within the beaches, shorelines and coastal areas.
  • Pulling trash, cleaning restrooms, picking up litter, performing landscape duties, minor repairs, assist with pay machines collections and deposits, repairs and upkeep.
  • Communicating all park operations and maintenance issues to supervisors and may assist in supervision of community service workers, inmates or volunteers assigned to the area.
  • Inspecting, maintaining and repairing playgrounds, parks signage and other amenities to ensure safe and clean operations of all beach parks, preserves and boat ramps.
  • Assisting park patrons and visitors, answering questions, supplying information and providing exceptional customer service.
  • May also require unlocking and opening facilities as well as locking up and securing facilities at closing times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Requires any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED and six months maintenance or closely related experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and small equipment in a safe manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Ability to detect improper functioning of equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance on hand tools and/or small equipment.
  • Skill in handling cleaning supplies in an environmentally safe manner.
  • The work days and hours may vary to include evenings, weekends and holidays.
