WHAT IS THE JOB? The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the accounting functions, including month-end close, audit, financial reporting, and internal controls. The individual in this role will also lead and develop the Accounting team and collaborate with the Controller and CFO on accounting systems, policies, and processes. The Accounting Manager ensures the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial statements and records; reconciles monthly ledgers; compiles, analyzes, and reports information; and provides budgetary support and preparation for contracts and grants.

Pay rates for this position: We bring in all employees at the midpoint of the salary range for your role. Knowing that not all cities share the same cost of labor, we make offers using a tiered approach based on your geographical location. While the majority reside in Zone 1 or Zone 2 areas, we acknowledge variations, even within counties, ensuring fair compensation for all based on their specific location's cost of labor.
For the Accounting Manager position, here is what we will offer:
Zone 1 (areas characterized by lower labor costs [e.g., Charleston, WV, Cleveland, OH, Phoenix, AZ, Omaha, NE, etc.]):
$103,659 annually Zone 2 (areas with moderate labor costs [e.g., Syracuse, NY, Ann Arbor, MI, Denver, CO, San Diego, CA, etc.]):
$111,434 annually Zone 3 (areas known for high labor costs [e.g., Washington, D.C., Trenton, NJ, Los Angeles, CA, Seattle, WA, etc.]):
$119,208 annually Zone 4 (areas with the highest labor costs [e.g., Bridgeport, CT, New York City, NY, San Francisco, CA, San Jose, CA, etc.]):
$132,166 annually WHAT WILL YOU DO IN THIS ROLE? - Manage and coordinate the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all reconciliations, journal entries, and adjustments.
- Prepare and review the financial statements and reports; ensure compliance with GAAP and other accounting standards.
- Support the external audit process and provide all required documentation and information.
- Maintain and monitor the internal controls and procedures; ensure adherence to company policies and best practices.
- Manage and optimize the accounting systems and software; liaise with vendors and IT staff on system issues and enhancements.
- Lead, train, and mentor the accounting staff and foster a culture of teamwork and excellence.
- Document and update the standard operating procedures and workflows for the accounting functions.
- Create and deliver training and workshops for non-accounting staff on accounting policies and processes.
- Analyze and interpret financial data and metrics; provide feedback and recommendations to the Controller and CFO.

- You are accurate and timely in your work by both ensuring deadlines are met within the accounting team and being proactive in working cross-functionally to ensure AVID's books include the most recent information, account codes, etc.
- You are a leader who can direct and supervise the work of your direct team and collaborate with other leaders in achieving strategic goals.
- You have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and at least 7 years of direct experience in the field of accounting-preferably in a managerial role.
- You are proficient in accounting software (we use FinancialForce), Microsoft Office, and data analysis tools.
NICE TO HAVES? - CPA certification or equivalent

Qualifying work experience, as identified by the Senior Director, Human Resources, may substitute for the education requirement.
