Latitude 36 Foods is Hiring a Continuous Improvement Intern Near Corona, CA

Shift: Mid-Shift
Schedule: 11:00AM - 7:30PM (OT and weekends, as required) *May vary, depending on business needs
Hourly Rate: $23.00- $25.00/hr.
Position Summary
We are currently looking for an energetic intern to join our Operations Team. The intern program will run from June 2024 to August 2024. This is a full-time paid opportunity involving 40 hours per week. As an intern on the operations team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our production and warehouse leaders to identify areas of improvement and showcase your analytical skills when providing process-improvement recommendations.
Projects for the 2024 Internship
Utilize continuous improvement techniques such as PDCA, Kaizens, VSM, RCA, and others to provide recommendations on how to reduce current FDA and USDA production downtime, improve warehouse efficiencies related to shipping and receiving, and close efficiency gaps throughout the operation.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Must be a rising junior or senior if enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program.
  • Fields of study include Business Administration with a focus on Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Technology or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to balance academic and extracurricular commitments (i.e. work experience, clubs, volunteer activities, teams, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficient and practical knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to interpret and apply new information.
  • Strong, professional communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize/execute multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Skills in presentation development.
  • General curiosity and a desire to learn new material.
  • Schedule flexibility: there may be times when weekend attendance may be required.
  • High aptitude and ability to learn ERP systems and product applications quickly.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Assists with performing a variety of continuous improvement-related tasks In the following areas: process improvement, quality control, research and development, maintenance, general engineering, and related areas.
  • Investigate, experiment, and implement process improvements to maximize productivity.
  • Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of processes across all departments during shift change to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct time studies for various cross-departmental processes for data collection.
  • Create monitoring tools and processes to measure and document KPI performance, efficiency gains and cost/time savings of process improvement recommendations.
  • Prepares a continuation plan for departments to maintain process improvement measures.
  • Assist with projects in all aspects of data collection, data entry, and data analysis.
  • Work independently in both production and office environments.
  • Participates in daily Production/Operations team meetings to understand the daily plant environment.
  • Prepare a PowerPoint presentation to present findings and recommendations to the leadership team at the end of the summer.
  • May perform a variety of supportive maintenance, operation, and production tasks, and other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements/Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
