Latin School of Chicago is seeking a Middle/Upper School Physical Education Teacher starting in fall 2024. Our ideal candidate will possess the desire to contribute to a dynamic team of professionals in the promotion of lifelong fitness, wellness, and overall enjoyment of being physically active; demonstrate positivity, optimism, and the ability to support students in a risk-safe environment; and be adept at teaching in a manner that fosters skill development, refinement, and mastery while understanding and meeting the needs of a variety of learning styles. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership and guidance to students in physical activities
Create lesson plans based on Latin standards and policies and state regulations
Track student progress including complications and injuries
Prepare and maintain equipment for student use as needed
Teach students about proper techniques of different types of physical activities
Coaching opportunities may also be available
Qualifications
Master's degree in Physical Education is preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education (PE) or related field is required.
Experience teaching PE at the Middle and High School level
Experience in curriculum development
Lifeguard certification
Aquatics background is preferred
Current CPR certification
