Purpose of Job
Provide a wide range of professional legal support services including drafting legal and business communications, summarizing documents, managing projects, and performing legal research. This position interacts with company attorneys, management, and corporate subsidiaries.
This position will also serve as the administrative assistant for the Legal Department fulfilling traditional administrative assistant duties including scheduling meetings, preparing expense reports, sending and receiving mail, editing documents and making travel arrangements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
  • Provide litigation support.
    • Manage litigation holds.
    • Research answers to interrogatories, document requests (including eDiscovery), and subpoenas.
    • Perform tracking of complaints, motions and orders.
    • Monitor developments in pending cases and claims; report to attorneys and management as necessary.
  • Manage various collaborative reporting and compliance activities, both independently and as a supporting role to paralegals and attorneys.
    • Project management, data compilation and summary, drafting and proofing documents, and records maintenance.
    • Draft periodic legal reports and summaries for management.
  • Administer department document management software and multiple SharePoint sites.
  • Perform legal and business research and communicate findings in memoranda.
  • Provide support for acquisition activity including but not limited to performing due diligence, assisting in the preparation of transaction documents, obtaining certificates of good standing, and performing UCC searches, preparing closing documents and closing books.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

  • Follow the company HR Policy, the Code of Business Conduct and all subsidiary and department policies and procedures, including protecting confidential company information, attending work punctually and as scheduled, and following good safety and cybersecurity practices in all activities
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or Associate degree, paralegal studies.
Experience:
  • Minimum of six years of experience in a paralegal or similar position within a corporation or law firm.
  • Experience with litigation process and procedure.
  • Experience conducting electronic legal research (including shepardizing legal citations) and using PACER.
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker software preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, to synthesize and present information timely and accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly and to prioritize multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, process and present information on a wide variety of topics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Internet use, and office equipment operation.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, a customer-service focus, and the ability to work well as a member of a team.
