Responsibilities
Recreation Specialists are involved in Special Olympic sports training and coaching. Recreation Specialists also lead and supervise traditional recreational activities, monitor Participants in a gym setting and manage assigned tasks. Recreation Specialist must be able to drive a 15 passenger van.
Requirements
- High School Diploma with some related experience, minimum. Preferred Bachelors in Physical/Special Education
- Exercise Science, Therapeutic Recreation, Wellness, Sports Management or related field
- Valid Illinois driver's license, with a good driving record
- Ability to physically train and assist persons in sports and fitness activities
- Direct Support Person (DSP) certification must be completed within 120 days of employment.
