Department Of Defense is Hiring a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST with Security Clearance Near Honolulu, HI

Duties * You will recommend measures and methods to correct safety and occupational health deficiencies. * You will prepare safety guides and internal instructions for safety risks encountered in an assigned area of responsibility. * You will advise senior level management officials within the assigned area(s) on the status of the safety and occupational health programs. * You will prepare and revise safety instructions and guides that are relevant to current or planned operations. * You will review purchase requests and procurement documents for the acquisition of equipment to ensure that tools, equipment and supplies conform to applicable regulations and standards. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing occupational safety and health specialist duties in a developmental capacity under the guidance of senior level specialist(s) and the general direction of the supervisor; 2) Assisting with planning, developing, organizing, administering, evaluating, and coordinating a comprehensive Safety and Occupational health program where operations, functions and activities of the assignment may be moderate to high-risk in nature, but common to industrial, commercial, transportation and/or construction situations; 3) Conducting accident and mishap investigations in all assigned areas as required by regulations and requirements; 4) Coordinating with other installation offices regarding occupational safety matters affecting assigned personnel including functions, facilities and operations which may encompass moderate-hazard to high-hazard Safety risks; and 5) Administering safety and occupational health programs IAW OSHA requirements, existing Navy/DoD regulations, etc. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Physical Demands: Office work is generally sedentary. Work Environment: The work is performed in a combination of field and office settings. During regular inspections and investigations in the field, the incumbent may be exposed to a variety of industrial hazards such as toxic chemicals, irritating dusts, fumes, mists and vapors, moving machine parts, high noise levels, uncomfortable heat or humidity or shielded radiation sources.
