Duties * You will recommend measures and methods to correct safety and occupational health deficiencies. * You will prepare safety guides and internal instructions for safety risks encountered in an assigned area of responsibility. * You will advise senior level management officials within the assigned area(s) on the status of the safety and occupational health programs. * You will prepare and revise safety instructions and guides that are relevant to current or planned operations. * You will review purchase requests and procurement documents for the acquisition of equipment to ensure that tools, equipment and supplies conform to applicable regulations and standards. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Physical Demands: Office work is generally sedentary. The incumbent will conduct frequent site visits at workplaces in shop environments, construction job sites or abroad vessels in the harbor to gather information or to determine effectiveness of various hazard mitigating measures during which time there may be some walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending and carrying small and light objects. Work Environment: The work is performed in a combination of field and office settings. During regular inspections and investigations in the field, the incumbent may be exposed to a variety of industrial hazards such as toxic chemicals, irritating dusts, fumes, mists and vapors, moving machine parts, high noise levels, uncomfortable heat or humidity or shielded radiation sources.
