Description of Job

This Temp position exists to process transactions for the Department of Personnel and Administration. This involves determining which operation is needed to record transaction data into CORE, such as cash receipts (CR*), Invoices (IN or GAX), Journal Vouchers (JV*), Receivables (RE*), and interagency transactions (IT*); receiving checks/cash and preparing/submitting them for deposit; issuing disbursements; processing and tracking accounts receivable billings; financial document filing; review of accounting documents ensuring that transactions are accurate in accordance with applicable State fiscal rules and regulations.
A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Enter Invoices from a community email inbox and enter into CORE. Work with OSC for vendor changes; coordinate with vendors to set up EFT information in CORE.
  • Enter Cash Receipts in CORE for checks received on a weekly basis and deposited by various accounting staff.
  • Participate in acquiring the mail and scanning various items including entering payments from the mail into CORE. Periodically reports to the office to sort the mail, redistribute, and deposit checks.
  • Reconciliations - perform analysis and reconciliation of accounting transactions between CORE and unit records to ensure reporting is accurate. Reconcile revenue for COE unit and prepare revenue report for Budget office; Reconcile 1099 reports, A/R, A/P accounts and resolve discrepancies.

MINIMUM QUALIFI CATIONS:
Experience Only:
At least four (4) years of accountant experience.
OR
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting.
OR
Current, valid licensure as a CPA by the Colorado Board of Accountancy will substitute for the degree requirement.
The exceptional candidate will possess the proven ability or accomplishment in the following preferred qualifications:
  • Previous State Service related to the work assigned to the position
  • One year experience in CORE
  • Intermediate level Excel skills
