Job Title: Planner III
Salary: $29.44 - $38.37 per hour
Klamath County is on the lookout for a knowledgeable and experienced Land Use Planner to perform a wide range of planning functions related to maintaining the County Comprehensive Plan and implementing the Klamath County Land Development Code, Oregon Revised Statutes, and Oregon Administrative Rules. If you are adept at interpreting complex regulations, guiding public land use inquiries, and supervising planning activities, we encourage you to apply.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an individual with strong knowledge of general planning procedures and techniques and proficiency at interpreting and applying complex land use regulations. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with adeptness in computer software such as Outlook and Word Processing.
Key Responsibilities

• Respond to public inquiries, interpret and apply the Land Development Code, and guide the public through land use procedures.
• Interpret public requests regarding property development, provide necessary information and forms, issue planning permits, and determine applicable fees.
• Accept, review, and process land use applications; prepare and present reports to various county review bodies.
• Prepare Final Orders with Conclusions of Law for decisions made by review bodies.
• Assist Code Enforcement with investigations of alleged Land Development Code violations and coordinate with law enforcement agencies as needed.
• Investigate complaints to determine if violations exist and represent the County in code violation court proceedings.
• Supervise Planner I and Planner II positions, including interviewing, hiring, training, and managing their performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or related field with at least five years of progressive experience, OR a Master’s Degree in Planning or related field with at least two years of experience.
• Current Oregon Driver's License
