*This position is open to all the King County employees and the general public. *King County Metro Transit's Rail Division has an exciting opportunity for a dependable, detail-oriented Maintenance Planner Scheduler to coordinate Seattle Streetcar facility maintenance activities and manage Seattle Streetcar vehicle maintenance inventory
 
This position is responsible for coordinating the maintenance activities for facilities and infrastructure of the Seattle Streetcar system, primarily working with service providers internal to King County to ensure regulatory compliance and state of good repair. This position also is also responsible for materials management functions that support the operation and maintenance of the streetcar system including purchasing, stocking, packing, shipping, and inventory controls of parts, materials, supplies, and equipment. 
 
Seattle Streetcar is operated by King County Metro Transit and is responsible for providing streetcar service for both the South Lake Union (2.6 track miles) and First Hill (4.9 track miles) Streetcar lines.
 
This recruitment may be used to generate a pool for future Career Service, Term Limited Temporary (TLT), and Special Duty Assignment (SDA) positions that may occur in this classificationThe pool would be valid for twelve months upon creation and may be extended at the discretion of the hiring authority.

All employees are expected to model and apply our equity and social justice shared values, behaviors, and practices. As the Maintenance Planner Scheduler, you will also:
  • Plan, schedule, estimate and/or coordinate maintenance work performed by external contractors and other providers to both South Lake Union Streetcar and First Hill Streetcar facilities. 
  • Audit performance of external contractors and other providers, check on work in progress, manage progress payments, and site audit for completion of projects to ensure proper documentation is signed off.
  • Coordinate inspections, certifications, and permits of equipment and systems at Streetcar facilities. 
  • Liaison with partners at City of Seattle Department of Transportation and Metro Transit to ensure Streetcar facility maintenance issues are addressed effectively and efficiently. 
  • Plan and coordinate materials management, equipment inventory, parts warehousing, distribution, and warranty functions that support the operation of the streetcar system.
  • Communicate specifications and procure needed goods, services, materials, tools, and equipment. 
  • Research, investigate, and source parts, equipment, and materials.
  • Conduct cycle counts; manage and ensure accuracy in the use of automated materials and maintenance management information systems.
  • Determine and manage parts/supplies inventories and order points. Optimize parts/supplies demand availability while minimizing inventory capital requirements. 
  • Accurately requisition and receive goods and services; ensure parts, equipment and supplies conform to quality standards.
  • Prep and pack items for outside repair and arrange for shipping. 
  • Monitor and analyze material usage and equipment failure trends and recommend corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Ensure all hazardous materials are handled in conformance with regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Monitor agreements with contractors and vendors. Coordinate with King County Procurement and Payables in establishing and maintaining contract purchase agreements. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with materials management, purchasing, stocking, and inventory control of parts, materials, supplies, and equipment demonstrating the skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the work.
 DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience handling multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member. 
  • Ability to effectively engage in and sustain relationships with people from diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Skill in researching information.
  • Ability to coordinate and track progress on maintenance activities for maintaining Streetcar facilities and infrastructure in a State of Good Repair.
  • Working knowledge and previous experience with warranty agreement terms and conditions.
  • Knowledge of common parts, materials, equipment, and supplies used in the repair of vehicles and equipment. 
  • Knowledge of and skill in the use of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or equivalent Maintenance Management Information Systems (MMIS).
  • Proficient in the use of computer software systems, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Power BI, and Teams.
Necessary special requirements: 
  • A valid Washington State driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Work Schedule 
The work week is normally 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Alternative work schedules may be possible. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and therefore is not eligible for overtime pay.
