Los Angeles is home to a large - but unknown - number of free-roaming cats (aka community cats). In cooperation with the Humane Society of the United States, Stray Cat Alliance is undertaking the South Los Angeles cat count project. Through this project, we will be estimating community cat populations in South Los Angeles, integrating population data into strategic program planning and monitoring the impact of interventions on those cat populations for a period of at least three years after the initial estimate is made.
We are seeking two reliable and motivated field technicians to collect data on outdoor cats in South Los Angeles as part of a baseline survey to inform future cat management programs. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience at the cutting-edge interface between conservation science and animal welfare. We prefer that candidates for this position are based in or close to South LA and have some previous experience with field data collection.
