Position Overview: Silco Fire & Security is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Alarm Designer with a NICET II certification to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of fire alarm systems, codes, and standards, along with proven expertise in designing fire alarm systems for various types of commercial buildings.
Responsibilities:
Design Fire Alarm Systems: Develop comprehensive fire alarm system designs for new construction projects, renovations, and upgrades in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Conduct Site Surveys: Conduct thorough site surveys to assess building layouts, hazards, and other factors influencing fire alarm system design. Collaborate with project stakeholders to gather necessary information and requirements.
Prepare Design Documentation: Generate detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications for fire alarm systems using CAD software. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
Review and Interpret Codes: Stay current with national and local fire codes, standards, and regulations. Interpret and apply relevant codes and standards to ensure compliance in fire alarm system designs.
Coordinate with Project Team: Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other project team members to integrate fire alarm system designs seamlessly into overall building plans. Provide technical expertise and support throughout the design and construction phases.
Perform System Calculations: Perform voltage drop calculations, battery calculations, and other technical calculations to ensure the proper functioning and reliability of fire alarm systems.
Support Project Management: Assist project managers in preparing cost estimates, project schedules, and procurement specifications related to fire alarm system design. Participate in project meetings and provide technical input as needed.
Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews and inspections of fire alarm system designs to identify and address any errors, discrepancies, or potential issues. Ensure that designs meet industry best practices and client requirements.
