Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and certified Aqua Aerobics Instructor to join our fitness team at Kent County Parks and Recreation. The Aqua Aerobics Instructor will lead engaging water-based fitness classes, promoting a positive and motivating atmosphere for participants. This individual should possess a passion for fitness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create well-structured, safe, and enjoyable aqua aerobics sessions. The Community Center Pool is open Memorial Day – Labor Day each summer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute dynamic aqua aerobics classes suitable for participants of varying fitness levels.
• Provide clear instructions and demonstrations of exercises, ensuring participants perform movements with proper form and technique.
• Motivate and encourage participants to maximize their workout and achieve fitness goals.
• Monitor and ensure the safety of participants during aqua aerobics sessions, making modifications as needed.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and incorporate new and effective exercises into class routines.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the aqua aerobics area, including equipment setup and storage.
• Assist in promoting aqua aerobics programs and attracting new participants.

Position Requirements:

• Current certification as an Aqua Aerobics Instructor from a recognized fitness organization or demonstrated experience teaching Aqua Aerobics classes.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Previous experience as an Aqua Aerobics Instructor is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to modify exercises to accommodate different fitness levels and physical conditions.
• Enthusiastic and motivational approach to fitness instruction.
• Knowledge of water safety and emergency procedures.
• Availability to teach classes during flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Physical fitness and endurance to lead water-based exercise sessions.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including water, sun, high humidity, excessive heat, and cold. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
