Part-time Description KCARC Civitan Children's Center is an ISO 9001:2015 certified, NAEYC accredited early childhood education facility teaching students from 12 months to 5 years. Our special education program is under the instruction of a licensed Special Education Teacher. With opportunities for advancement into a teaching career, Civitan Children's Center trains applicants to become active members of our classrooms by assisting teachers and students. This position will assist the classroom teacher in maintaining a developmentally appropriate and language-rich classroom environment. This role also requires keeping the classroom teacher, the Director of Children's Services and all other children's services staff informed of any issues, problems or concerns that arise. You will also provide close supervision of students at all times by keeping all students within sight and sound and ensuring attendance clipboard is present and accurate at all times. This position is also responsible for assisting with food program duties, providing leadership and classroom management during the teacher's absence and all other duties as assigned. This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent required. Successful candidate will be required to obtain their CDA, CPR and First Aid certifications and must possess a strong desire to work with children. Lifting, bending, cleaning, sitting and repetitive motion required. Requirements Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Must possess a CDA or must begin working toward a CDA after first year of employment, or an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Background experience in developmentally appropriate practices in an Early Childhood setting
Must demonstrate insight, sensitivity, flexibility, and a strong desire to work with children
