Our Top Candidates would be a current Ophthalmic Technician currently working with an Oculoplastic Ophthalmologist. We will however consider an Ophthalmic Technician currently working in a busy practice with at least 2 years of verifiable Ophthalmic Technician testing experience.

Ophthalmic Technicians are responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist by documenting patient information into the Electronic Health Record as well as taking ocular measurements and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.

Responsibilities:

Ophthalmic Technician Responsibilities:

  • Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems
  • Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction, pachymetry and more
  • Performing external slit lamp examination and administering eye drops
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures
  • Assist with stocking supplies, ensuring cleanliness of patient exams room and other administrative or clinical duties as assigned
  • Scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination
  • Code for services
Qualifications:

The Ophthalmic Technician Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in a work up position within an ophthalmology practice is required for consideration. COA/COT is highly preferred
  • Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business
  • Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail
  • Demonstrate superior computer skills
  • Highly energetic with positive attitude
  • Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours
  • Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting
