Responsibilities

Oversees the Pharmacy team and serves patients by preparing medications; giving pharmacological information to multidisciplinary health care teams. Reviews and monitors state licensing and regulatory compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Leads the Pharmacy team in the preparation of medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; weighing, measuring and mixing ingredients; detects therapeutic incompatibilities.2. Dispenses medication by planning, implementing or maintaining procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security and proper disposal.3. Assess the identity, strength or purity of medications.4. Maintains records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files and inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, or registries of poisons, narcotics, or controlled drugs.5. Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.6. Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing pharmacists and technicians’ work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges and inspections.7. Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patents on drug therapies.8. Develops staffs pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, interns, residents and health care professionals.9. Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Food and Drug Administration by monitoring unit inspections, maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory, follows disposal of drugs per policy guidelines.10. Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.11. Manages process for order and distribution of flu-vaccines.12. Recruits, screens, selects, hires, trains, coaches, counsels and develops a team of qualified and highly motivated individuals. Assists with student programs.13. Conserves resources by controlling cost, adhering to budgets and using prudent judgment related to expense incurred by the Company.14. Minimal travel including overnight stay as necessary15. Meets Expectations of Excellence for position.16. Supports campuses, departmental goals and the overall objectives of the Company.17. Complies with all laws, regulations and standards of ethical conduct.18. Performs all job duties with a friendly positive and team-oriented approach.19. Maintains required licenses or certifications in good standing with the State.20. Complies with all Company policies, procedures, rules and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Licenses/Certifications

  • KY Pharmacist License required.
  • IN Pharmacist License preferred. 

Experience

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in a pharmacy environment preferred. 
  • Three (3) years of leadership experince preferred. 
  • Exemplary computer skills that include knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
