As a Risk Management-Credit Risk Analyst, you are exposed to a wide variety of customer types spanning multiple industries and develop analytical skills to assess the risk of various highly structured commodities products and transactions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform customer due diligence and financial analysis including assisting credit officers with written credit approval memos and reviews, ongoing counterparty and industry credit analysis, establishing trading limits, assigning appropriate credit ratings, monitoring credit exposures, managing excesses and data quality, and negotiating master agreements. 
  • Develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand risks and recommend structure which sufficiently protects JPM’s interests in various client trading activities and structured transactions.
  • Prepare and present to senior management a quarterly Commodities risk review that details exposure metrics across the global Firm-wide commodities portfolio analyzing key trends, drivers, and concentrations.
  • Assist Commodities Risk Managers to promote a better understanding of the Global Commodities Group (“GCG”) within Credit Risk Management and with partners across the firm.
  • Support risk officers on ad hoc projects related to, but not limited to, GCG policy, procedure, new business initiatives, product control, regulatory relations, and business management by producing relevant reporting and conducting various data gathering, mining, and analysis activities.
  • Maintain active working relationship with GCG Structuring, Sales, and Trading teams and assist with continuing education of these teams with respect to risk management, systems, and procedures.
  • Meet development and training requirements as defined.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills 

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Minimum 1 year of professional work experience in financial services.
  • Strong analytical abilities and ability to think abstractly and project various "what-if" scenarios
  • Strong organizational skills, ability and desire to learn quickly, and a high level of attention to detail
  • Proficient skills in processing, analyzing, controlling and reconciling large datasets in Excel
  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills 

  • Relevant credit risk, market risk or experience in energy, mining or natural resources 
  • Relevant accounting and corporate finance coursework
  • Interest in Commodities markets and understanding of how macroeconomic shocks impact prices
  • Excellent communication (written, oral, and listening) and interpersonal skills 
  • Skillful written communication is necessary; the ability to convey thoughts clearly and succinctly and to communicate pertinent complex information in a clear and organized manner
  • Ability to build rapport and influence change
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while understanding when to involve other team members as needed and to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to perform well under pressure individually and on teams in a demanding environment
