JPL Integrated Communications is Hiring a Copywriter Near Harrisburg, PA

Overview

As a Copywriter on JPL’s team, you are responsible for developing strategic advertising copy and other creative text for the tactical components of integrated communications programs, performance marketing, and other projects as assigned. Copywriters collaborate with internal teams and clients to understand client objectives, message, and audience, and develop creative approaches that stand out in the marketplace. Copywriters also contribute to JPL business development efforts by presenting and providing information, education and proposals for prospective clients.

Hybrid and Remote work options available for candidates that live in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Washington D.C.

Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts, strategic advertising copy and other creative text for the tactical components of integrated communications programs, performance marketing, and video content.
  • Work collaboratively with the Creative Director, Account Strategists and Account Directors to ensure a strong understanding of the client’s business goals; marketing objectives; communications strategy; target market and audience; key products, services and value propositions; timing expectations and budget requirements.
  • Conduct supplemental research as necessary to develop an understanding of the client’s products, services, target audience and competitive environment. The copywriter takes additional steps, as needed, to enhance his or her knowledge and to write accurately and on-brand.
  • Work in a close-knit partnership with creative team members across the company to form workable concepts and ideas.
  • Translate guidance from Creative Directors or other leads into compelling, creative copy that speaks to the target market and audience; showcases the client’s products, services, value propositions and brand in a differentiated manner; and meets the client’s business and marketing objectives.
  • Follow Account Managers’ direction regarding deadlines and budget expectations.
  • Participates in touch base meetings with managers and develops goals for continual growth.
  • Proofread copy and provide the highest level of quality assurance before releasing work for client review.
  • Present concepts and copy in client presentations.
  • Consult with production team members who affect the final creative product on integrated campaigns. Participate in casting TV/radio and oversee VO recording.
  • Assist as needed in writing proposals for integrated communications opportunities. The copywriter may also participate in presentations to sell and win new business opportunities.
  • Demonstrate excellent client communication and relations skills while providing a quality client experience.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree in advertising, copywriting, communications or related field.
  • 3 years of creative writing experience, with a proven track record in writing fast, impactful, original, and strategic advertising copy.
  • Outstanding creativity; great at conceptualizing; the ability to turn broad or complex concepts into clear, concise, powerful copy that communicates in a clever, compelling manner to the target audience and achieves the client’s business objectives.
  • A flexible writing style with the ability to adapt to new markets.
  • Strong grasp of writing for digital advertising, including knowledge of all the different ad units and the ability to adapt copy using insights garnered from analytics.
  • Solid research skills, the ability to work through research and technical material in order to form creative copy.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills along with a solid understanding of advertising principles and marketing communications.
  • Experience working collaboratively with the creative staff of advertising agencies and marketing firms.
  • Strong verbal presentation skills; the ability to present creative copy and concepts in relation to the client’s business and marketing plans; confident, professional and comfortable presenting to senior-level decision-makers.
  • Proficient in MS Office PC programs; experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud a plus.
  • Excellent client-facing skills; a communications style and work style that engage the client collaboratively and responsively to create a positive client experience.
  • Attention to detail; strong organization and multi-tasking skills; the ability to work on multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Professionalism and a mature sense of accountability.
  • Must work well in a team-oriented environment and in collaborating on assignments.
