Salary: $70,000 - $110,000 based on experience (Pay Grade: 170-172)

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our federal team based out of our Huntsville, AL location. This role gets the opportunity to support multiple teams across our business working in concert with the Regional Managers, Operations Leaders and Project Managers to ensure consistent delivery of pre-construction deliverables. Responsible for reviewing contract documentation to identify pre-construction deliverables and delivery date of the deliverables. Coordinates the completion of the deliverables in a timely manner to ensure all deliverables are completed and submitted on time. Drive measurement of labor estimated cost vs labor actual cost.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $110,000 based on experience

Vacation:
3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 10 standard holidays and 3 floating holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks in total)

As a Project Engineer , you will:

  • Proactively assist Regional Managers, Operations Leaders and Project Managers in taking necessary actions required to expedite consistent delivery of pre-construction deliverables. Assures customer expectations are being met as well as internal financial commitments
  • Works in concert with the Project Owner to identify and manage the pre-construction deliverables and delivery dates of these deliverables by reviewing contracts, RFPs, and project schedules.
  • Manage and document pre-construction deliverables and first-time approval ratings through Procore, spreadsheets and other means as necessary
  • Schedule and conduct meetings as necessary to update progress of deliverables on a regular basis
  • Assist Project Owner in creation of deliverables as requested by Project Owner. This includes project schedules, safety plans, quality plans, technical data packages, etc
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in identifying Pre-Construction Deliverables and requirements of these deliverables. Be the lead on projects for these deliverables when required. This could be when a project is assigned to a new Project Manager or when no Project Manager is available to be assigned. Work with the Engineering Team when aspects of the deliverables are assigned to this team for completion
  • Assist Project Owner in identifying and building labor cost allocation sheets to drive measurement of estimated cost vs actual cost
  • Weekly updates of estimated vs actual labor cost on all identified projects.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in the construction industry or contracting business performing similar contract and project management functions
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and various levels of management within the company
  • Ability to prioritize work activities to meet desired business goals
  • Working knowledge of PC’s and Microsoft packaged software (Excel, Access and MS Project)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of and experience working within the government contracting process
  • Understanding of HVAC, HVAC controls or BAS systems, and/or Fire & Security systems
  • Field experience and exposure to cost accounting
  • Procore knowledge

Preferred Education:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent directly related work experience. In lieu of degree, 2 years experience in the construction industry or contracting business performing similar contract and project management functions.
